Gardening Tips
Market gardening in January. This is the first installment of a 12-part video series on the tasks we do in our market garden, month-by-month. Starting with our first video we’re going to delve into several gardening tips, tasks we do, and the overall month of January.

January is probably one of the more relaxed months we have here on our farm. With the holidays just behind us and the daylight increasing each day, the growing season is soon upon us.

Therefore, January is a month to do several important tasks. Whilst growing and sowing crops in January is something we don’t do a lot of, we need to make sure we analyze the data from the previous season, and develop a crop plan to ensure we will reach our financial targets.

Gardening in January and winter gardening in general, is quite calm and relaxed. Besides planning for the upcoming season, we also clean up beds, refresh them with compost, propagate perennials through cuttings and divisions, and make sure the overall market garden is ready for another exciting season.

That, and a lot more will be covered in today’s video of Market Gardening in January.

Happy gardening in January!
